It doesn’t matter what I’m doing. If this song comes up on my playlist, I find myself inexplicably moving to it. I dare you not to.
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.by Mary Elizabeth Frye
How Not to Be Surprised When You’re a Ghost
Charlotte Church
Nothing will be as it seems
Those rivers, houses and trees
Are not the same ones that you knewBut they still tug at your hand
The memory of your heart
You mustn’t let it get you down
You mustn’t let it get you down
You mustn’t let it get you down
This is how not to be surprised when you’re a ghostYour love from years before,
Who got here before you
Will love you like she did back then
Your love who’s not by your side
Will soon be here with you
It’s up to you to sort it out
We hope that you can sort it out
You mustn’t let it get you downThis is how not to be surprised when you’re a ghost
This is how not to be surprised when you’re a ghostJust think what you can get done
There’s no time here, you can put to bed everyone
Each thing that you left undone
If you have a mind to do it,
If you have a mind to do it right
If you love them you should do it,
If you love them you should do it right
See the way she hides behind her hair
Maybe you should set it right
Whoever said life isn’t fair
This could be the chance to get it rightThis is how not to be surprised when you’re a ghost
This is how not to be surprised when you’re a ghost
Haunting and beautiful, with just a hint of Halloweeny loveliness in the video.
From Kristen Lawrence’s facebook:
This August 17th — Black Cat Appreciation Day — I will be offering a free download of “Cats in the Catacombs” from my website:
http://HalloweenCarols.com/downloads
It features my black cat, Molly Macabre the Halloween Cat, as guest vocalist.
Pass the word to cat lovers and cat societies and cat cuckoos.
Yay!
My favourite “non-traditional” Halloween song.
Shadow of the Moon
by Blackmore’s Night
In the shadow of the moon,
She danced in the starlight
Whispering a haunting tune
To the night…Velvet skirts spun ‘round and ‘round
Fire in her stare
In the woods without a sound
No one cared…Through the darkened fields entranced,
Music made her poor heart dance,
Thinking of a lost romance…
Long ago…Feeling lonely, feeling sad,
She cried in the moonlight.
Driven by a world gone mad
She took flight…“Feel no sorrow, feel no pain,
Feel no hurt, there’s nothing gained…
Only love will then remain,”
She would say.Shadow of the Moon…
Shadow of the Moon…Somewhere just beyond the mist
Spirits were seen flying
As the lightning led her way
Through the dark…Shadow of the Moon.
Through this mess
I must shyly confess
That I still believe
That somewhere in space
There exists a place
Where we mean what we say and
We say what we mean
And we’re never as lonely as we think
Not as lonely as we think.Let’s just say that
Our nasty habit of
Ignoring the pure and
Embracing the trivial is
Just a symptom of
Our adolescent souls
And we all will evolve and
Grow out of our dissatisfied selves
And we’ll all learn how to be truly free.Truly free.
If you are of the witchy persuasion or a lover of all things Halloween, it is absolutely imperative that you get to know the music of Kristen Lawrence. Go. Now. I’ll wait.

I saw this a while back. I have always loved this idea of seeing nature this way.
Crows may not be song birds, but who says they don’t make music?

Do you like Bone Poets Orchestra? (Or Gaia Consort as they once were known?) Help them put out their next CD! Or just give them love and support (and views and likes) so they we’re out here in anticipation for more!
This is from their Facebook page:
We only had a few of you see this, so I’m re-posting. We’ve mixed Strange World, and Saturday we go to a really cool place and start shooting the video for it. Probably some of this footage will be in it.
We are of course, doing all this on the thinnest of shoestrings. Bless the wonderful Adoptive Parents who make it possible for us to pay the world class musicians that are on this record!
You can become an Adoptive Co-Parent of any of these songs at http://www.bonepoets.com/adopteitr.html
